NOOOOOOO!

Well, so much for my track record, but I guess I can't say I'm surprised.

I will admit it. I nibbled on one of my nails. But when you consider it's only been one since I started this journey, I think I'm doing pretty well. They are the longest they have been since I was pregnant with my oldest.

My nails are still really soft, but I'm hoping that they will harden up as time goes on.

Ok, so I finally convinced my husband (the non-nail biter) to let me at his nails...

I started with a red base coat and then did a black and white marble. This looks really cool because he ended up with several shades of grey as well :-D

This is what I currently have on my nails...

For these I started with a green base coat and then did purple and white over that. I mucked up my other hand doing my husbands, so I didn't bother taking a picture of them.

What I love most about them?

They are finally past the tips of my fingers!!!

Unfortunately, they are still really soft, so I am using a nail hardener and debating about adding a folic acid supplement.

Does any body out there have soft nails? What do you use to harden them up?

Ok, so I know it has been a while since I made a post so here goes.

Other than catching myself with my fingers in my mouth a couple of times, I have not nibbled on my nails since I started this journey!

YEAH ME!

I have been playing with colors and styles of nail polish. I like the look of Sally Hansen's Crackle coat on my toe nails, fingernails....not so much. The water marbling on the other hand I love! Still not great at it, but I'm getting better.

How are your journeys going?

So, I finally finished all of my nails and got them clear coated last night. I wasn't going to clear coat, but I'm too much of a klutz, and I chipped a couple. So on went the clear coat!

You can't see it very well but my middle finger here is actually black and purple!

I have some that I like more than others. Like the index finger on my right hand, oh, and the ring finger on my right hand too!

I had to get my husband to help me with this picture. It's pretty much impossible to take a picture of your own right hand.

I have to admit, I had SO much fun doing this, that it's going to be a challenge to NOT wash them off and do them again today!

On the nail biting front I have only caught myself with my fingers in my mouth ONCE since posting yesterday! YEAH ME!

You can tell by looking at my left thumb, that I am not only a nail biting, but I also tend to gnaw on my thumb (and pinky on that hand) when I am at the computer but not using that hand on the keyboard. Does anybody else do that? I don't personally know anybody who does (I think).

Has anybody out there decided to join me in my quest? I hope so! What have you tried to stop biting them?

As you can tell from the pictures I have some pretty short nails. I'm hoping that by my birthday I will have them a bit longer :-D

P.S.

Should I try to convince my husband to let me paint his nails? His are the opposite of mine! He NEVER bites his and they are NEVER shorter then the ends of his fingers (unless he breaks one "oh no!")

So, I decided that 28 years was enough.

I will stop biting my nails by my 29th birthday!

How you ask? Well, I have tried about every method you can think of. The yucky tasting nail polish, hot sauce, elastic band around the wrist. You name it, I have probably tried it!

I figured "it's a lost cause" and "I'll never have long(ish) nails".

Until now. I have a new resolve.

What is this miracle you ask?

Two words.

Water Marbling

I saw it and I fell in love. I knew I HAD to try it. But I have such tiny fingernails, that I didn't think I could do it. Until now. After some reaserch and soul searching I decided that the best way to stop biting my nails so that they look good marbled is to marble them while they are short (tiny even). Now that I have marbled them for the first time, I am even more in love with the look than I was just watching YouTube videos :-D

So, I thought, "Ok, what can I do to keep up my momentum...." And then the answer hit me like a baseball bat at the World Series.

BLOG!

I know, I know, I always said I would never be a sheep, but here I am so,

"BAAAA!"

Here's hoping that those of you who read this and the posts to come will follow me, and I hope join me, on my way to being a non-nail-biting person!

I will post pictures and maybe even a video or two of my journey.

So, until the next post, why don't all you other nail biters out there do some soul searching and try to stop too!
